Fixing Fences, Ducklings and Clean Pools

Good day wonderful friends!

Lots happening on the farm this week!

The back wall of our silkie chicken pen collapsed, so yesterday we had to take it down and put up a new one.

We had to clean up behind the pen first. It was over-run by 4 feet tall weeds! LOL The pallet is holding up the wall; as soon as it was moved that end of the wall collapsed. Tavis and I were outside when the wall collapsed, so Travis held it up while I put the pallet in place.

Once we moved the pallet, the whole end and top of the wall went down. The bottom part was still sturdy so we left it to help anchor the next fence to.

New fencing; some discarded deck railing :) We found over at the gravel pits last year. It easily attached to the bottom wall. We ran some plastic sheets along the bottomto ensure no chicks could escape (chicks could obviously fit between the bars)

We also got a pen set up for the chicks we got at the co-op/feedstore. 3 Rhode Island Reds, 3 Barred Rock crosses; and 3ring-necked pheasants

And we got the yard all cleaned up, and the duck pools scrubbed out and refilled

The geese enjoying their clean pool.

A saw this cute fella at the pond and took his pic :) I almost always have a camera with me :)

Last pic; some sweet Muscovy ducklings

I also got a couple of new designs done :)

You can find all my designs on my Teepublic store

Wishing you all a great Friday! Huge love to you all! Be safe! Stay kind!

Monday

Good day wonderful friends! Hope you all had a great weekend! Happy Monday!

This morning we spent two hours trimming and taking down trees (from the cows). We are maybe 20% done cleaning up the trees, still so much to do. Every single tree needs some sort of trim. Every pine tree under 4 feet is dead and needs to be removed. Hoping to have it done by the end of summer, we just keep trudging on it

Every single tree has at least a few broken branches that need trimmed off.

We have pumpkins growing in the front section, where all the hay/poop was, of Turtle lane (cow area). The seeds were obviously left over from the numerous pumpkins the cows had. They grew right through the hay! Since the area is a work in progress this summer and not really being used, we are just gonna let them grow. Maybe we'll get some pumpkins! :)

And a heads up for anyone who follows this or any blogger blog via the "FollowByEmail" widget (Feedburner). It is going away. It is being discontinued in July.

Wishing you all a super great day! Sending huge love!

Getting Things Done

Happy weekend wonderful friends! Hope you are all doing fantastic!

We have lovely weather here in Thorburn Nova Scotia! Loving it! We are getting lots done!

Got the Fortuna Rock garden all cleaned up and looking good, and got a little faerie garden set up behind. I can't have flowers in the area as the chickens kill them, so this is my compromise :)

Also got my couple of wood gnomes up and some solar lights up.

I started setting up some of my water faerie stuff up on Piskie Point for the pond Fae. Some fun stone I painted for them :)

And we got a new address sign made. Our driveway is very hard to see, so I made it ridiculously large!!

Feels great to be getting stuff done and seeing our place looking great again! It's our safe haven again. nice and private, nothing, but love here :)

Sending huge love to all!

Happy Saturday

Good morning everyone! Happy Saturday! I hope you are all doing great!

We are busy, busy, busy playing catch up on all the chores we didn't get done back in May as we were too busy cleaning up after the cows, and we are still working on cleaning the cow area. So much to do!

This morning we walked the driveway and trimmed back any trees/bushes that were sticking out and might scratch a car. We also cleaned up some doggie poop; raked up and moved four more wheelbarrows of hay from Turtle Lane (cow area); filled our raised garden box with dirt and filled in a couple of holes the chickens had made; and moved a huge pile of wood up the the house so it can be cut up for winter wood.

Here's some photos from this morning:

First pic is of the new wagon!!! It holds up to 1200 pounds! I'm sure I couldn't pull that much weight! It's very sturdy, so hopefully lasts for many many years to come! It's been here four days and I've already used it about ten times. Thank you so much to those who helped me get it. I cannot express how much I appreciated the help.

You guys have seen this pic a million times ! LOL Turtle Lane (cow area). The front area still has too much hay, so still working on removing more. So. Much. Hay. Blows my mind! Thankfully the rush on the cow area is over as the worst of the poop is moved so there isn't a horrible smell and hoards of bugs! That was our big concern and why we pushed so hard in the spring to get it done. The smell was so bad we couldn't enjoy our time outside!

Look at Travis working hard! :) He's bring up a wheelbarrow full of manure and soil for our raised garden box and to fill some holes the chickens made.

Travis filling in holes the eeevvviiiillll chickens made!

Last pic is of the big pile of tree limbs and trees we brought up from Turtle Lane. It's all stuff we had to cut down due to cow damage. Making a big pile up near the house so we can cut it all up for winter wood. No need to let it go to waste! There is still a ton of trees that need trimming or cut down in what was the cow area. We'll get to them eventually!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend! Thanks for the support and love! I'm blessed to have such awesome friends!! :) Love you!!!!

June 9

Good days friends! Hope you are all doing fabulous!

I had to take a few days off from lawn work as I pinched a nerve in my elbow from all the raking and needed to give it a bit of time to calm down. It still hurts real bad, but just pushing forward.

We are still working on cleaning the cow area. got most of the main area done, but it still needs more leveling out (more raking!) and there are still tons of trees to cut down and trim etc.

We've moved on to getting some other jobs done as summer is here and the veggie garden needs in before it's too late! Our critter care was also falling behind as we were focusing all our energy on cleaning up after the cows.

I did manage to get a new design done yesterday while I was hiding inside from the extreme heat

Wishing you all a super great day! again, thanks for the support! Love you all!

May 2

Good day wonderful friends!

Hope you are all doing super great!

I spent about an hour and a half raking the area this morning, still trying to even things out. Once we get it moderately level, the job will be done! We are sooooooo close!

Today's after work photo :)

Bosco hung out outside with us while we were working :)

And one last pic; Toffee and Mini sitting together.

So happy that my life is slowly coming back to normal! :)

Huge love!

Puddles and a Greenhouse

Good day friends!

Hope you all had a great day!

Yesterday's rain left some very big puddles, so I spent much of the morning filling them in. at least Mother Nature is kind enough to show me the low parts! I didn't get them all done, will work on them again tomorrow.

We also got our little greenhouse up today :) That felt good! We put it beside the pen so we could attach it to the fencing. the fencing is attach to a pallet coop so it's very sturdy. Hopefully it won't fly away!

Thanks so much for listening to me these last few weeks. I really appreciate it. I wasn't looking for pity, I just wanted to document it all and needed to vent. Not very many people read my blog, so I knew it was a safe place LOL. Honestly, some of this is my responsibility. I should of put my foot down spring of 2020 and told them to leave. I should of told them to clean up more. I just really hate conflict and keep thinking "I'm sure they'll be gone soon!". I should of been braver and said more. That's on me.

Thanks for the support. huge love!
