Beavers, Ponds,Bylaws and Websites

Hi everyone! Sorry, I haven't blogged in a few days! I have been busy, busy, busy!

I have been doing a huge amount of research. I have googled the crap out of beavers, ponds, Nova Scotia in general, wild animals in Nova Scotia, and livestock bylaws. I have learned a LOT! Most of it good, some bad ...

One of the ponds at my new place has had a family of wonderful beaver in it for many many years. The pond is far enough from the house that it poses no threat. Sadly, the last tenants that lived there killed the beaver family (which got them evicted). Google tells me that a new beaver family should move in within the next year! If not, I can contact a wildlife rescue and help save a beaver by letting him be relocated to the pond. I love beavers! Yippee! Yes, I know beavers can me trouble makers. I read about 50 articles on beavers over the last couple of days ... a lot of people don't like beavers! :( As I said the beaver pond here is located in a place where it does not hurt the house, cannot flood anything and harms nothing, but the surrounding trees, which is ok ... a beaver has to eat too! The other complaints about beavers that they attract predators and that they can give you "Beaver Fever". I'm ok with the predators. The large predators are generally not around till night time; after dark the hens are secured in their coop; the dogs are always on leash, I carry a stout walking stick, and we stay moderately close to the house. Beaver Fever is actually a real thing (I know! Who knew?): it is also called Giardiasis. It's a disgusting parasite that's in the poop of many animals. The beaver likes to poop in the water (most animals don't), and guess what happens: the parasite gets in the water. Humans swim in water, gulp a tiny bit of water, and you may get beaver fever. It's like the flu, but way more fun cause it can last for 2-4 weeks! Other interesting beaver facts: they eat tires; they have 2-4 kits (kids) a year); they mate for life; they are the largest rodent in North America; the can hold their breaths up to ten minutes and their eyelids are clear so they can shut their eyes underwater, but still see; and they cannot climb over a four foot fence (Good to know for my garden!).

Seriously! How could you not love Beavers!! (I know all you fellas are giggling away at "beavers", thinking who much you loved them!")

I have also been researching ponds. Finding out what types of wild life lives around them and what vegetation to expect. I have lived in a LOT of places during my life, but I've never had a pond! Some of the trees that I may have around my pond are trees I've never had before, like a willow tree! I LOVE willow trees. Have always wanted to have one close by. They are so beautiful!

The wildlife here seems very similar to what we had in Coe Hill, lots of coyote and deer. The occasional bear or cougar/bobcat, and maybe some wolves or moose. In Nova Scotia we also get bald eagles and puffins.

Bylaw wise I can sell eggs and veggies from the property no problem :) I can have up to 200 hens! I only want 10-20, 200 would be horrible!

I have been working away trying to get the webpage for my new place up and going, The Happy Hippie Haven". I five-ten years, I have some hippie friends coming to join me, we are gonna retire happy :)

Hugs and love!

Nova Scotia, Here We Come!

We got the Nova Scotia place!!!!! WONDERFUL!

I AM SO HAPPY! 50 ACRES!!!!!! YAY!

So, I got five weeks! Eeek! So much to do! I'm going to have to work a little extra to cover all the expenses, but it's worth it!

I've got to get the whole house packed, figure out moving, do all the hydro/internet stuff ... Oh boy! Third move in one year ... I will be super happy when this is done. I just want a home again. Ever since I left my country home outside of Sarnia, I have felt a little lost. I feel like I have a home again.

Coe Hill was great, I LOVED the area and would of happily made it my home forever, unfortunately things didn't work out with my "friends", and the place was crazy expensive, and I couldn't work, and then I got horribly sick. The Coe Hill area made me feel at home, loved the Coe Hill fellas! but the house/property didn't.

New Brunswick has been great. Really great people here ... other than my neighbours! I had great hopes for the place, but I knew it was not my "forever" home as soon as I pulled in. I thought at first I would stay a year or two, let myself recover from Coe Hill, but the neighbours are so nasty here, I don't even want to go outside. There's no privacy, my hens hate it, may cats hate and my dogs hate it.

The Nova Scotia place is perfect. It's amazing privacy, yet close to stuff. I don't like to drive and will be able to bicycle into New Glasgow in nice weather. There should be as many wild animals as in Coe Hill! I wanna see a bear! I didn't get to see one in Coe Hill :(

Ok, I'll stop talking about the house! LOL! I gotta go finish some work! I just wanted to pop on here and let everyone know the good news!

Hugs and love!

I Just Want To Talk About the House ...

Oh man! I'm so friggin' excited! All I want to talk about is the place in Nova Scotia! No, it's not 101% yet ... it's 99%.. I shouldn't get my hopes up cause life happens ... but dam! it's perfect! Other than the driveway, which freaks me out, but we'll figure it out! Ok Coe Hill Guys! You thought my driveway in Coe Hill was nuts! Check this out! Its 700 - 800 feet long! So, what does everyone suggest? We shovelled the Coe Hill driveway ourselves by hand ... but it was hard work and took 4-8 hours depending on the snow/ice levels. The driveway in Coe Hill was what ... 300-400 feet? I think the Nova Scotia driveway is more flat than Coe Hill ... So, ATV with a snowplow? A couple of good gas snow blowers? ... what's the best approach?

Nova Scotia gets a lot of snow; however Google tells me it gets an average of 214cm of snow each winter and London, Ontario gets 194.3cm of snow each winter .... well, shit, I grew up in London, that's not so bad (That's like seven feet of snow .... ha ha ha ... I'm nuts!)

The house has everything I loved about Coe Hill, without everything I hated!

It has city hydro (thank you, thank you, thank you!.

It has electric or/and oil heat (so no lung infections from a woodstove)

It's three bedroom (It needs a fresh paint job and good cleaning

It's very private (It's actually more private than Coe Hill was, as Coe Hill had a close neighbour)

It's 50 acres! (Coe Hill was only 42)

Has two ponds ... which means ducks!

Is a ten minute walk to a variety store/market/bakery

and only an hour and a half walk to the city of New Glasgow or a ten minute drive

and of course has the same internet I had outside Sarnia, same internet I had in Coe Hill, same internet I have in Kingsclear, New Brunswick - Xplornet :)

and there is a water slide park a 15 minute drive away, and I can walk to the ocean in 4 hours or drive in 20 minutes.

And privacy! Yay! so much wonderful privacy! I think I said that already LOL

And it's mine! I can set up Faerie altars wherever I want! and Faerie paths! I can put the Pan Altar where I think the Pan Altra should go! Not out in the open, but somewhere dark, and hidden, but beautiful and magical!

My wonderful hens will be so happy to be able to freerange again! and forest freerange! and Nova Scotia weather is excellent for livestock as it doesn't get as extremely cold or hot as Ontario does. I'm hoping to get about 5-10 more hens when I get to Nova Scotia (plus some ducks!)

And the cats ... of boy, they HATE it here. I can only let them out for a few hours at night, when the neighbours are in bed. They are tough barncats, they like to be out working.

My dogs will also be overjoyed. Since moving to New Brunswick it's been 101% on leash, 50 acres means off leash running and exploring!

Do you think I'm excited? :) Geeeez, I hope I get this place!!! Fingers crossed! Hugs and love!

Happy News!

I am feeling a little better today, but still not quite up to doing dances. I am pretty sure that I will be better tomorrow and will be able to get back to work!

I got the very best of news tonight! I got the 50 acre Nova Scotia place!!! HOlY CRAP! It's so awesome!

It's not 100% final yet, I gotta get some time on my phone so I can call them and settle up the last details, and then I need to come up with $275 security deposit for Tuesday. That's going to be a little hair raising, but I'll work it out!

The house is in Thorburn, near New Glasgow in Nova Scotia. It's a three bedroom on 50 acres of forest, with two ponds! and it's only $550 a month and they'll discuss selling it at a later date.

I am so happy!!!!!!!!!

I'm also a little freaked, it's a lot to get done in a month and a half and I have so much to figure out! It's totally worth it! I just want to get to my forever home! I'm so tired of moving!

I'll keep you all updated! Hugs and love!

Still Sick

Sigh ... yep, I'm still sick, it sucks big ones. I really thought I was getting better last weekend, but then on Tuesday I totally crashed and ended up back at Doctor's on Thursday. I'm simply exhausted, it takes such a huge effort to do the littlest things. I have a new round of steroids and antibiotics, hopefully this time will do the trick!

I found the most awesome house in Nova Scotia. Its exactly what I've been looking for!Its a three bedroom house on 50 acres, only about a ten minute drive from New Glasgow. Two ponds and tons of beautiful forest.  It has everything I loved about Coe Hill, without all the bad things! It has real hydro and real heat, no woodstove! and it would be mine! I could do what I wanted! Nobody bossing me around telling me what to do and where to put stuff! The house is only $550 a month! Unfortunately one other person asked for it before me and the landlord would like to rent to for June, so I have to wait and see if the other person takes it. Ohhhhh, I sure hope they don't! I love it and the rent is awesome, plus the landlord said he would discuss a rent to own after a year. If I had the money, I'd just pay for the month of June to get the place. $550 is a small price to pay for such an amazing place. The landlord said the person hadn't gotten back to him yet, so maybe I'll get lucky! Fingers crossed!

I hope you all have a fantastic long weekend! Hugs and love!

Friday the 13th

It's Friday, May 13th today ... Friday, the 13th :) To us Pagans, it's not a scary bad luck day... it's really nothing to us. It has no real importance and to the best of my knowledge has no religious significance. Many Pagans see it as a good luck day, but I think that's more that they like to make fun of all the normal folks that think its bad luck ... yep, that's Pagans for you, we tend to do the opposite of the "normal folk", just because we can. :)

I've been slowly getting better. My breathing still sucks, but its improving. I had to go see the Doctor this week for a check up and got another round of antibiotics. I can't wait to be back to my normal energetic self! This sitting around thing sucks!

I've had a bit of a rough week work wise (well, at least offline work). I had 4 no shows this week! I cannot believe it! Craziness! So very rude! I cannot stand rudeness, it just pisses me right off. I'm one of those crazy punctual people, I would never ever just not show up for an appointment. My mother raised me much better than that! Humph! Honestly. I'm getting a little tired of dealing with rude people, I am trying to get more of my "work" online. I started offering erotica writing and a naughty penpal service this week. I am particularly excited about the "Naughty PenPal" service. I have already had two fellas sign up for a month :) Yay! With the Naughty Penpal service, I write a 500 word naughty letter to my "Penpal" five days a week. Each naughty letter includes a couple of naughty photos of me that match the theme of the letter, plus one letter a week includes a fun striptease video.I am hoping to get about six penpals, so then I can limit my at home private dances to a select group. I'm going to limit it to six penpals so I'm sure to have time for everyone :). That way I can just dance a couple times a week for nice gentlemen that are reliable and fun to spend time with, and have more time for my online guys :)

In addition to my new "naughty" online service, I got an email from a previous client about writing some articles. They are boring "cost of" articles, but the pay is pretty good and sometimes they are educational. I have written about 100 articles for this client before. All the articles, I am writing go on this site: http://www.costevaluation.com/. (Not all the articles on the site are mine; the owner of the site has hired several freelance writers; he gives us the topic and the sections and we do the rest. My Client pays me half in advance to my Paypal (which, he literally just did as I'm writing this!) and once I hand in the ten articles he pays the remainder due.) Today, I wrote "The Cost of Walk In Tubs". The funny, and frustrating, thing with the "cost evaluation" articles is that I am given certain "keyword phrases" I have to use, which are often horrible grammar. And, to make matters worse, I have to use the phrase a ridiculous amount of times per section. To can be a little frustrating at times and difficult to work with, burt also amusing :)

Well, I better get back to work, lots to do! Hugs and love!

Feeling Blue

Hi! I hope everyone is doing fantastic!

I'm feeling a little blue, been so sick lately its hard to do much. Unfortunately the wood stove and the freezing cold in Coe Hill did really serious damage to my lungs and put a bad strain on my heart. Damage that sadly will never completely heal. The Doctor has me on steriods and antibiotics. In addition, to the lung problems, my B12 is horribly low, which means I'm losing blood again :( I've doubled up on my B12 pills, but sadly may have to go back on the shots. (I have pernicious anemia)

Thankfully, none of my health problems are contagious and my breathing has improved enough that I can happily see one gentleman daily for dances. Thank the Gods! Without dances, I get incredibly bored! Especially when I'm stuck at home all day.

I am hoping to get moved for July 1st. I've been checking Kijiji daily looking for a great place. I really miss my place outside of Sarnia, I want another place like that. Something with some great privacy. I miss gardening and sitting on my swing enjoying the nice weather, and I miss my silly hens knocking on the door harassing me.

My son sweetly took some nice pics for me when he went out for a walk last week:

Things are starting to green up around here!

I hope you all had a great weekend! Hugs and love!

New Brunswick Eggs from my Ontario Hens

Hi!

I am happy to report my lovely ladies have finally started to lay! Yay! Unfortunately, they are not up to their normal laying, bu at least it's something! I'm getting about one eggs a day instead of the four I should be getting.

Chickens are pretty fickle and they do not like change. Between the 18 hour drive here, a month locked in the barn for quarantine and now being penned, they are simply not happy :( It's tough to go from being free range and having acres and acres of land to run around on to being in a small pen. I feel so very bad for them.

I'm sure I'll have a new place in just a couple of months and then they'll be able to go back to being free range! I miss them terribly! I loved them knocking on my door and harassing me :)

I'm feeling slightly better today, still fighting the lung infection, but getting better daily. I am spending my afternoon watching MASH (just started season 3) and making bags on Zazzle. Check out my collection: (just hit on the words "bags' under the pics and it will take you to be Zazzle store collection :)

Hope you all have a great week! Hugs and love!
